The 28-year-old joins Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck in withdrawing from Gareth Southgate’s initial 28-man squad.Trippier has made nine competitive appearances in his 16 caps, scoring his only goal for England in the World Cup semi-final defeat by Croatia.He was injured in Spurs’ Premier League win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.“He’ll return to his club to continue rehabilitation,” the FA said. Welbeck pulled out of England duty last week. He was taken to hospital after breaking his ankle during Arsenal’s Europa League draw with Sporting on Thursday.He has undergone two successful operations to treat his break, but the forward faces a lengthy lay-off from football.
