Marco Silva: Everton agree compensation with Watford after allegations of ‘unwarranted approach’
Everton have agreed to pay compensation to Watford for manager Marco Silva after allegations of an “unwarranted approach” were made.The clubs have avoided a Premier League inquiry into the matter and reports suggest the compensation is in the region of 4million.2

Watford made an official complaint accusing the Toffees of “tapping up” Silva in 2017.An independent inquiry was set up and settlement attempts through mediation had failed.The league had planned for a three-man commission to consider the findings.2

This inquiry will no longer be necessary, though, as both clubs have now reached a settlement.Silva was sacked by Watford in January 2018 after a string of poor results.He then replaced Ronald Koeman at Everton the following May. Upon Watford’s subsequent complaint to the Premier League, the club said: “The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.”
